Restringing my drum

So yesterday I went and hung out with some friends that I haven't seen in quite some time. First let me say it was a great visit and reflecting back on some good memories and catching up on folks was just awesome. Long story short here I ran into them and they mentioned restringing one of their drums and I need to do mine as well so I thought what a great chance to learn the craft. Man am I glad I did. I got it all down now and I just need to go get some new rope and a goat skin. Has anyone out there ever done this? Any pointers or tips you might want to pass along.
